Corn - how to dry kernels

Here in Thailand they dry the ear of corn with the kernels still on the cob. Then remove the dry kernels and plant them. Tie a string around the stem and hang the ear/s minus the husks.

Thank you for the info. I just have to hang it inside because of moisture here, but it is nice to know before I picked it all.

I usually let it mostly dry on the stalk, harvest in late summer/early fall and leave it in the shuck until next spring and stored in the shed, then shell and plant the following spring.

here, commercial growers allow only one ear to mature on each plant while harvesting the 2nd ear as baby corn.

i was wondering, how many ears can a corn plant produce if grown not only for personal consumption?
