Cover Crop

Howdy.

Has anyone ever used Lima or Fava beans as a cover crop? I have two containers I'm growing of beans, three plants each. I figured it might be a good natural way to put some nitrogen into the soil. I'm guessing, when the time comes to transplant my seedlings into the 5 gal. containers, I just throw one of the plants in there and mix it up?

If anyone has used them before, what is the best way to incorporate them into your soil?

Thanks!

the dark ones are pubes and the others are scarlet runner beans grown there to shade the pubes
