Cumari do Para??

Hello,

I received seeds of the Cumari do Para from two different members.  Planted both and the two plants are growing the pepper shown below.  I was expecting the small bullet shaped yellow Cumari do Para that almost every picture on the Internets have.  I found one photo from wildchilies.eu that appears to have a similar plant to mine, labeled the same.

Anyone have info on this variety of Cumari??

thanks,

I think Cumari whatever are, somewhat a landrace thing.
Some look like Gum Drops ,some resemble Baccatums Preatermissum....

Too many versions-

Never seen one shaped like that, but have seen many variations.
I consider them Landrace +/-.

As far as i know there are 2 types of cumari "do para". Both are "chinense" and different from yours.

My "cumari" is "true", it is the smaller version with upward pointing pods. I can make a picture tomorrow if you want.

Its very tasty (vitrus flavor) and perfect for snacking.

Ones below it are wild brazil, orange wild brazil and aji charapita.

I've also seen a cumari do para that was slightly larger in size in circulation but I'm pretty sure it was chinense as well though.

Jim, those look more like an Aji Amarillo, or its smaller cousin Aji Cinche (sp?) Amarillo that Beth Boyd used to sell. I think her picture archive is still online if you want to search for it.

Which one is your favorite?

I grow this for the first time this season and I was expecting a more elongated shape. Learned now that there is more than one version :)
These are bright yellow,(not orange) and look just like the picture at fatalii.net where I bought them. I must say that it is one of the best-tasting peppers I ever tasted. Very tropical! Full of flowers, but not many fruits forming so far. Probably the bushiest plant I have ever grown :)
