Do I need to change my Silica Gel Packs?

Do I need to change my silica Gel Packs? Do they expire or lose their ability to absorb moisture after a period of time?

I've been having very good germination rates with my own saved seeds after storing them with Silica Gel Packs, such as:

How long do these things last? Should I change the packets annually or every few years?

Packs usually last around 6 months. Some of them can be baked in the oven to rejuvenate, but you have to watch because some will release bad chemicals if you try it.
