[The Hot Pepper]

Here is the script for every Emeril show.

FADE IN

Band plays.

Emeril: Ladies and gentlemen Doc Gibbs and The Emeril Live Band.

Audience applause.

Emeril: Today we're gonna make (announce crappy recipe here).

Emeril seasons some flour.

Emeril: I don't know where you buy your flour, but where I buy it it don't come seasoned.

Audience laughter. Emeril adds some garlic.

Emeril: I'm gonna add a little garlic here. Ah what the hell.

Emeril Dumps it all in. Burst of applause. Shots of people going crazy for garlic.

Emeril: Can you guys smell this? If you don't have smell-o-vision, you need to call your local cable company and demand it.

Audience laughter. Emeril hums to himself. A few chuckles from audience. Emeril sprinkles some spices as Doc Gibbs plays the chimes. Emeril shakes spices all over the plate.

Emeril: Bam! Bam! Bam!

Audience cheers. Emeril feeds Doc Gibbs.

Doc Gibbs: That's good!

Emeril: When we come back, I'll show you this special dessert. Another notch!

Band plays.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Band plays.

Emeril makes a crappy dessert and pours liquor all over it. Shots of audience approval.

Audience: Ooooooooooh

Emeril passes the plate to a kid.

Emeril: Here make some friends. That's the show folks. Doc Gibbs, take us out!

Band plays.

FADE OUT

After the show, drunk kids throw food at Emeril after eating the dessert.

But you're still watching right? I think Emeril's appeal is you know he's a cornball. I also think people that tune in and enjoy his show go for the predictability. 40 cloves of gaaahlic and little "bam" of 3 stooges thrown in. I have seen him FUBAR more than one dish on his show but he doesn't try to cover it up much which is a nice real touch. I have to say though, after having been to his joint in Las Vegas, all I can say is wow! The food and service is not just fu fu dressed up but just insanely good!

I've seen it enough to know that every show is the same. I just had fun writing that. I don't watch it though, I'm a channel surfer, I really don't stay on any channel too long unless a good movie comes on.

Whatever it is he is doing it seems to work. I agree that the show is predictable and he seems to have a short list of comments he likes to overuse but the show works. And...the man is a culinary genious. I ate lunch at his Orlando restaurant and mmmmm mmmm it was good! As for the show, the subject matter is not all that exciting for every show so he does what works for him. The waiting list to get tickets and the fact that it is always up for awards, not to mention one of the most watched cooking shows in history attests to the fact that the man knows what he is doing. Just my two cents.

I really dont like Emeril too much. I perfer Bobby Flay. I like his style and the "off the wall" ideas he comes up with.

I agree with thp...all Emerils shows are about the same just different recipes.

I'd like to see him do a show on cooking with peppers. That would be awesome. I think he is entertaining.
