Rather than discarding our weaker seedlings we gave them a chance (slim one but a chance) We planted 4 into one pot and left them to fend for themselves. Remarkably all 4 have produced pods!

This is the smallest plant with one tiny cayenne near the top. 23cm from the soil to the top.

This one is the next biggest at 25cm and has 2 tiny pods.

These 2 were facing away from the window.

This is the second biggest one at 30cm and has 2 decent sized chillies.

The one on the left will be turning red soon

And finally at a massive 38cm the daddy of the pot with 4 chillies growing,

The red one you see was the first of my chillies to go totally red

I have very small plants that produce large Pods - totally weird. But a small plant is, well, small, so doesn't produce much.

I didn't expect anything from them to be honest, I just couldn't throw them in the bin when it came time to pot up the seedlings.

I did the same thing with a straggler that wasn't growing as fast as my other plants. I had a huge plant in a 10 gallon planter and figured it had more than enough space so I planted a thin small plant up to it's neck off to one side. About a month later the plant is only about 6" tall, but has 8 2" pods that sprouted from the bottom and are now sitting in the dirt!! I cam back after vacation and didn't think they would get that big, but now I'm worried about them because they are literally growing just above the dirt and are growing fast and are getting bigger by the day. The entire plant has 8-10 total pods and although small seems to be very productive.
