fertilizer-nutrients Fertilizer

A n00b here... :scared:

I'm growing an O Hab and have been using a liquid fish & kelp conditioner/plant food with 10.3% nitrogen, 2.5% phosphorus and 2.5% potassium, plus vital elements... is this good or not, and if so, will it be sufficient? Here is the product here: http://www.organicearthsolutions.com.au/products/Searles_Fish_Kelp_Plus-68-1.html

My first flower opened yesterday... I'm so excited!

Wish I could answer your question. Ive been trying to figure it out myself. But what i've gathered from my research and the forum is that you may want to use a fertilizer with higher Nitrogen early on for foliage growth and when its time for blooming go with something thats higher in phosphate. I personally have been using 18-18-21. And since my plants have started blooming I switched to 15-30-15 bloom booster. Be carefull with dosages though.

But your plant seems to be doing well with what your giving it. My plants were 24" tall before the first bloom.

Thanks! I actually have a liquid fruit and bloom booster (potash) here and was wondering whether I should switch to it or not. Do you think I be doing more harm than good if I fertilized with both (half doses of each)? Or should I straight-out switch to the bloom booster? From what the label says, it's 4% Phosphorus and 20% Potassium (as carbonate) - does that sound OK? There's no mention of nitrogen on there.

it looks great . good choice of fertilizer.

I cheated...

I bought it from a nursery a few weeks back, transplanted it, and have only applied the fertilizer a few times now. But if it still looks good after a few weeks, that's still a good sign? I guess I probably need to give it some time and really see how the fertilizer goes... trial and error.

-------------------------------------

I will be starting from seeds very soon... perhaps a good chance to try different fertilizers and see which I get the best results with. So much to learn!

Thanks for the offer! :) but unfortunately I only have very limited growing space where I am at the moment :( and already have some seeds coming my way.

damn, mystery seeds do sound exciting tho!

You probably don't want your plant to fruit yet anyway, it's too small. let it grow for a while. Welcome from Melbourne!

Haha, I was just thinking that before after looking at how many buds have started appearing ("I don't think I need anymore buds... even if half these produce, I don't think it'll support them all!!"). I'll let it grow for now and see what happens. In the future - once I know what I am doing - I'll probably pinch the first buds and let the plant grow a bit more.

I've grown Orange Habs for the last 5 years and I've never had a pod set before christmas, so don't stress too much about pinching the buds. Don't know if the difference in climate will give you pods earlier though. I normally don't get any ripe until around March. All of my plants have been nursery bought until this year and I plant out in October.
