Theres a lot of ways to do it. You can mix it with the soil or top dress the soil but sometimes when you top dress it, it can get form a cake on top where it gets a little hard. I usually top dress and use a little hand rake to mix it with the top soil. You can also make a tea with it where you mix it with water and use it that way. It's also good for transplants too. Just sprinkle a handful in the hole that you're putting the transplant in and it gives it a nice start.
 
Are the worm castings more for container gardens? Would you guys recommend castings for raised bed gardens that have live worms and crawlers in the dirt?
