For my hot peppers I planted them in fafard with some tomato tone mixed in (a decent amount, not the whole recommended amount though). I used mater magic on my tomatoes, following the instructions and sprinkling it in the hole at the roots before transplant. The tomatoes are growing like weeds currently. My peppers aren't taking off yet, and some of them have prematurely started producing buds so I've been picking off the flowers. Anyways, lots of rain in the forecast and was thinking of surface dressing the peppers with some mater magic, an 8-5-5 mix, just to boost growth. Good idea or am I going to make them leggy?
Don't really know much about fertilizer beyond the basics, so here is the label transcribed:
Soluble Potash (K2O) 5.00%
Calcium (Ca) 4.50%
Sulfur (S) 1.00%
Derived from: Meat meal, hydrolyzed feather meal, bone meal, and sulfate of potash.
contains 6.80% slow release Nitrogen
Says it's up to 3 months of continuous feeding at 70 degrees, but I'm thinking as a surface dressing it won't last as long in the heat
EDIT: I'm an idiot - 8% not 100% nitrogen, label was a little squished
