food Fiery Green Hornet (cocktail)

Recently I made some candied habaneros.  The habaneros were ok, but the true star of the process was the leftover habanero infused maple syrup.  Its just wonderful.

I've been trying to think up a cocktail I could use it in.  Last night after enjoying a Pisco Sour decided to try using the hot maple syrup in another pisco drink I like, a Green Hornet.  It was actually really good.

Fiery Green Hornet:
Put the following in a shaker and give it a shake for 30 seconds
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 oz pisco brandy
  • 2 oz lemon juice
  • 1/2 - 1 tsp habanero maple syrup
Pour into an Old Fashioned glass over ice, then top with 2-4 oz tonic water.

Similar to a sidecar, or even a traditional old-fashioned, of course minus the tonic.  Supercool attempt man I am sure it was awesome.  I like the habanero syrup idea because all of the spicy liquors I had tried have been too spicy to serve, unfortunately.  I have also been flirting with ideas of just hot pepper garnishes, and spicy rims.  Looking forward to more spicy cocktails.
