Fun - My Pepper Powder 'Recipes'

As a follow-up to my message about wearing a gas mask when making powder, I thought I'd share my two 'recipes' I used for my 2008 batch. As I shared my powder with several people, I thought I'd give them a little flyer to go with the powder. 2008 was the first year I picked my own peppers, and I went a little overboard by picking a wide variety, and decided to dry/grind them all into two different blends. I called one 'Gas Mask' and the other 'Blister'. Here are the two flyers I included - I don't think using a variety of peppers changed the 'taste' too much - was too bleeping hot anyway  (BTW - as most of you know, this can get expensive, so I've started charging my friends to offset my costs)

Thats good stuff right there. BTW-how much for the powders?
'Houston(ish)'? Our son moved to Jasper last year, about 2 hours north east of Houston. I see you are getting a bit of the cold weather as well. But your weather in the summer is much better for growing peppers. My son moved from Wisconsin, and last year was his first summer - he couldn't believe how many days there were over 100 degrees!

2008 was my 'vintage' year for making pepper powder. I certainly am no expert and I go thru cycles - for a few years I made hot sauce, and now I'm in my powder cycle, although last year I didn't make any, which I now regret. I had fun making the blends in 2008 (of course, the pain I had making them is just a memory now) and I gave too much of it away. When I realized how little I had left I charged $5 for a 4oz shaker, and only sold 5 bottles as I wanted to keep the rest. I have about 8oz of Bhut left which I'm keeping so I can make it thru until fall :) I have some dried whole peppers but not many.
I want to 'ramp up' for the fall and plan on making more blends. My next one I will label 'melt down' :) It's funny because a few people at work who have some of my powder tell me how they used Bill's 'Gas Mask' powder in some dish they made. Makes me think about having a small side business, but as you are aware, going from growing to drying then making the powder is a long process. I have a lot to learn, and will try to grow my own again this year and will be learning a lot from all of you here.
Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Kind regards,
Bill
