pics Fungus problem? Pics

I'm working on making a proper glog so I could post this kind of thing on there, but I haven't had time this week.

Anyways, today was going to be my first time fertilizing properly. I decided to do a closeup check on the plants.

A few of my plants are suffering from something. I'm assuming it is from when I was over watering them a week and a half back:

Hot Banana plant: http://i.imgur.com/bf9fngQ.jpg This one had some small ants around the stem base.

Both plants are over a foot high and have started producing fruit. Had to pick a giant banana pod off because it was getting too big for the plant.

I did a couple searches on here and all I could find was to dilute some peroxide (according to this: http://www.using-hydrogen-peroxide.com/gardening-with-hydrogen-peroxide.html) and spray the affected area, so I did that.

Now i'm not sure if I should hold off on the fertilizer and just water normally, or not do anything and let it play out. They seem like they do need some water today. Hot and humid south Florida.

If left unchecked, it will definitely kill the plant.  If whatever is eating it keeps returning, eventually the stem will be chewed through.
