seeds Germination time

I keep seeing around here and on the net and even on seed packages, an average of 10-14 days of germination time.  But every seed i have popped has sprouted out of the days in 4 days or less.  Just FFOF soil and tap water.  Not complaining, just curious if these are just guidelines or what.
 
depends on if you have heat mat, freshness of seeds, etc.
 
it's best for seed companies to be a little cautious with the estimates, they don't want to say in 4 days then someone who has a crappy setup take 14 days and give them a bad review. 
 
Some of mine have taken almost 25 days before!!!
 
 
Once I had them chillin in the oven (oven off) for a stable temp and my girl forgot about them. Preheated the oven and melted my whole seed tray. Thought they were all goners. Right that thing was like 400 degrees. But nope. Almost all of them popped in like two days after that!!!
