There is a website/shop that offers  seeds of a pepper which can way up to 1 pound, 5.89 ounces

Has anyone ever grown such a pepper?
I do find it extremely doubtful it's trustworthy.

He said that is the biggest by far so most of his do not get that big. I don't know, there are some people on youtube growing super sized vegetables and yeah it depends on what you grow but also on how you grow it. If you try to give them the best of everything, the regular things can get a lot bigger as well. Compost, rock dust(azomite for example), AACT, proper mulch and environment will make a huge difference.

That will work. Try a red solo cup or small pot and put a ziplock bag or saran wrap on top for a humidity dome.
