Good Friday Yummies

What did you guys cook for good friday?

For me it was a leg of lamb stabbed many times into what garlic was inserted then injected with Devils Tongue. Slow roasted.

Made Jerky for the first time ! (JUST FINISHED MARINADE )
THSC - Naga BBQ and Scorpions HaB concentrate the features, and a bit of the new dry BHUTs i have powdered in pestal & mortor.... Teriayki sauce, garlic, Cajun heats Vodoo ash, few other NORMAL additives...... it will be ready in the morning to go into dehydrator ! Mouth watering thinking about it !

Im glad I have a guy makein this stuff for me commercially -its like a science ! lol

I nailed some hab, jap, and anahiem poppers last night. Stuffed with chorizo and goat cheese. Got the babybacks slathered up for the smoker on Sunday.

Cheers, TB.

Didn't cook. Born and raised R.C. so no meat - went to a proper fish and chips shop and had that. The kids run it now, but it was started by Scottish immigrants and it's a family run place in Kearny, NJ. (The Thistle)

I forget what I had, but I know it consisted of being microwaved in the motel :(

I always get a kick out of people the dont eat so called " meat " on good friday but will eat fish, HELLO!!!!!!!! fish IS MEAT!!!!!!!!! so are eggs unless that has changed over the years ?
if you dont want to eat meat I guess you need to go vegan for the day cuz fish is still meat!!!
I'm catholic but I just dont fall for that gimmick, I'll even grill up a big fat steak if I feel like it, & eating land animals not a issue for me, if you're allowed to eat fish (meat) then steak or chicken is just fine in my book! - meat is meat IMO! last time I checked fish are not made out of tofu ;)

The religious prohibition is the flesh of a land animal, which most people call MEAT. It has to do with inconveniencing yourself (self denial as a preparation for Holy Week and Easter - some form of fasting is also strongly advised or required, and I admit most gloss over that) as a dedication to Christ. It's not just about what kind of flesh you eat. I guess no one ever taught you that in your "Catholic" upbringing. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lent#Fasting_and_abstinence ) No one says that you have to abide. Everyone has their thing. I have an Orthodox Jewish friend who only eats Kosher food and only according to the Kosher laws. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kashrut ) THAT is some strict eating. Muslims have their rules. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_dietary_laws )

I am not what you would call religious in a normal way, but I have a kid who goes to Catholic school and I have to set an example. If it were just me it wouldn't matter.

As for you, I suggest that you reexamine what you call Catholic. I have no illusions as to my personal spirituality, but like I said I have a family and choose to abide by the public stuff so as to set an example.

I had a hamburger on Ash Wednesday simply because I FORGOT. Do I think that God, or The Great Spirit, or The Universe gives a hoot? No.

I do find that, at the least, it gives me an opportunity to have some other foods. I probably eat more eggplant parmigiana sandwiches during Lent than at any other time. I also enjoy fish. Everyone should eat more fish, especially fatty/oily fish like salmon, sardines(herring), etc. (Omega 3 fatty acids)

Besides, why do you care enough to comment like that? I was merely stating what my deal was on good Friday. I wasn't trying to make a statement to anyone and frankly don't care if you are observant or not. Do what makes you happy, but don't criticize others, otherwise you are no better than the religious zealots who criticize every chance they get. BTW I have met several evangelical Atheists in my day, so everyone gets preachy about what they believe in, even if it's unbelief. :P
