grafting peppers on tomatoes

Has anyone ever tried grafting peppers on tomatoes?

When grafting peppers, is it necessary to cut the plant between the first leaves and the rootstock? Or can I cut of the stem a bit higher, so there can grow side-shoots and I don't loose the plant?

12 from the 40 graftings survided.
It was the rootstock that died, the tomato.
It was too long in a dark damp place.
 
Imo plants need air, warmth and photosynteses to heal.

Very cool. I want to try this. My grandfather was a master at grafting Avocado trees. Maybe I can have some of his skills.
