Now that's dedication. If you want some advice, remove the largest leaves. It will help with transpiration during rooting.

Thanks!  I found similar advice in a cloning thread.  I think that was my mistake with previous failed attempts.

Thanks!

I think it can be moved from critical condition to serious.    I might start giving it short periods of direct sunlight this weekend.

Just got a special something I ordered in the mail today from Cross Country Nurseries:

A closer look at the name of the pepper:

Oh yeah.  Seriously cheating here!  I know I cannot compete but I will have fun growing this pepper with whoever else is growing it out there in THP world.  Best of luck to all Peruvian Serlano growers! (and to the others as well)

I'm still toughing it out with my serlano. I had three plants about a month ago but one damped off, a starling ate another and the one that made it is in a landscape bed next to the house chugging along. I'll get a pic posted later today.

So let's get an updated, official tally of all the people growing a qualifying Serlano.

Rich only a handful were able to get any seeds to pop so we opened it up to any plant sowed after Feb 14th just so your in the loop .

You mean, I could have just purchased a Serlano rather than growing it from seed?
You still can but know normally we don't allow anything like that this our the last year doing this  ( and all that could have gone to shit has gone to shat ) so all rules are null and void . Pick a plant provide proof of life and you can be the winner !!!

I get that. I just wanted to know who all got a Serlano to sprout.

I get we opened it up to any seed sowed after Feb 14th but ordering an 18inch plant from a company? Is there a "date sowed" on the label? Cool either way, but hell, if we don't even care about sow date, why end the contest on Halloween?! My grow season can go well into Nov-Dec here...

Also, why the last year? Do we need more people that are willing to send out seeds? If so, I'd be happy to send seeds for future contests.

I don't need to be in.  I will just stop by from time to time, post a pic and hopefully sample a pod every now and then.   No biggie.   I don't want to cause any troubles.   Truthfully, there is no way I would win.  Did you see how big the Thai Orange Large was last year?  I have never grown anything half that height.  Good luck to all!
