Who’s the current projected winner? As for rules, I didn’t host this one but if you’re modeling it after the past growdowns. Just check back on the rules on those first posts!

1: If you vote, you must grow and show (no free lunch) and you must agree to the SASE requirement to enter.
2: Seeds are obtained by sending SASE to our volunteer seed liaison. (to be determined)
3: Since we are well into January, start them as soon as you get them.
4: Grow them all, however you want, but chose ONLY ONE plant to enter into the competition. Any cultivation method you please, but once you weigh the first harvest off your chosen plant, that's your forever plant, until the end. All weight entries are to be made from that plant the entire season.
5: You must participate and supply the other competitors with proof of life. Photos of the pack of seeds + each harvest and it's weight.
6: At the end of the year, all totals will be tallied up and the competitor with the MOST WEIGHT off a SINGLE PLANT in a SINGLE SEASON Wins.
7: The Growdown King is to be showered with gifts by all the losers.

The pepper that gets the most votes would be selected. What do you think?

since i know i won't win (without cheating), i'm leaning towards OUT just so i don't have to buy and send a gift to the winner. not because i'm stingy, but more because i have nothing unique to send and i am unfamiliar with most postal matters.

but if the competition carries on, i will take my lumps and figure it out.

Why don't we modify Rule #7 to say. The Growdown King is to be showered with Seeds for some unique varieties of Peppers.
I can afford that much easier.

I'm still in the race! My plant has just entered a period of rapid growth.
Unfortunately, this year's weather has been very unusual, with extreme variations.
The fact that I chose such a large pot is probably also working against me in the current conditions. Next year, given my shorter and more unpredictable seasons, I will switch to slightly smaller containers.
I think that in recent weeks it has mainly been focusing on establishing its root system, and I am now seeing renewed growth in the foliage and flowers.

This is why I made the rule about "No Free lunch" it get's revisions as the years go on, but mainly because we used to have a ton of people get sent seeds, never or barely grow them well, didn't really participate and never sent to the KING as agreed upon. The way I write the rules tends to keep participant numbers low and strictly to the people who will actually participate and accept defeat according to the rules. Really cut down on seed snipers.

Never been a rule about WHAT you have to send...only that you MUST send the king something...

Excellent idea indeed, well thought out.

@Pepper-Guru Why don't you take over for @Bou? A ship needs a Captain.
