chinense Habaneros brown inside

I've gotten orange habaneros from the store a few times now. When I've cut open a few of them, the veins and seeds have a brown color to them. What causes that? Being over-ripe? It doesn't really look like a mold? -- I threw the first few away, but it seemed to be pretty common in them so I ate a couple - not dead yet
