I have a Chiltepin group started just 4 weeks ago that is now 5.5" tall with 22 blossoms starting. Just joined and cannot figure out how you all post pics. Have used the search function for posting pics with no help... Is it a number of posts or what?
Looks to have worked, thanks for the help... Anyway... this is two of several native AZ Chiltepins crossed with a Caroliner Reaper. The Chiltepin seed is from wild stock here in Arizona, the Reaper is from "Pepper Joe's" purchased seed. I had 100% germination with his seed BTW. As you can see I augment my T5/6500k lighting by bottom lighting with my own LED fixture. The T5's are on for 12 hours daily and the LED's are on 24/7 at a focussed 10 watt's. Bottom lighting is a bit tricky to set up and you Must do it from first sprout to maturity, once you start you cannot deviate or the plant pretty much dies. Bottom lighting makes for denser folaige and larger fruit.
Edit... Proper pruning is also very important! I start several planst in the same pot, then remove the slackers... Once they are several leaves tall and show suckers I snip the tops of all. Then I try to keep 2 to 3 plants going in the same container but snip off any shoots toward the central area to give max light to all.
