Hello from Chicago! ... Why are my aji amarillo cracking?

Hey All, 
 
So excited to be amongst you pepper heads!  
 
Please allow me to ask veteran growers:  Why are my Aji Amarillo peppers cracking?? All of them are doing it! They are cracking longitudinally between ribs...  I will try to send a pic...

usually over watering.  Mine do it too if we  have gotten too much rain (which the past few days the first rain we have had in a while ) Pic will help but in my experience this is usually the cause. Welcome  from Joliet.
