Hi guys,
Amateur pepper grower here. 2nd season.
Quick intro:
I decided at the end of last season to dig up my Jalapeno plant that produced about 15 peppers and bring it inside for the winter and see if I could keep it alive and get a head start for next year. Unfortunately I left it out a bit last and a quick cold snap got it a bit. I brought it into the garage and let it get acclimated to the indoor temp. When I brought it into the living room over the next couple of days ALL of the leaves fell off and I thought it was a gonner, but in a few days I saw some new leaves growing and it survived It was a little over a foot tall at the time and is now getting to be about 2 feet tall. I actually got 3 pretty hot peppers off of it over the winter. So far this season I've pulled 10-12 off of it for grilling on the BBQ and it has 15 or so still growing and more flowers popping up here and there. They have had great flavor and been hotter than any store bought ones I've ever had. I love hot stuff so it's been fun. I have some Habaneros that I started a while ago but they are just starting to flower so I went to the store and got some to kind of test the heat, boy was I disappointed. Less heat than my Jalapenos. not sure why, but I ate 4 last night with dinner testing them out and non were as hot as the Jalapenos I've been growing. I cant wait to see what the Habs I grow kick out!
Thats my story. Now I'm off to use the search button to see what you guys use to get rid of Aphids and spider mites.... ARG! and some info on fertilizer...
