Help with Corn

1st year I tried to grow corn it did really well got 6ft plus high , But the 2nd and this year looks like i'm having a problem of the corn only getting 3ft high right now I have some that's tasseling at 3 ft  I thought it was water so I watered the crap out of it this year still didn't help.. You think its the seeds? shouldnt be soil used brand new dirt this year

Corn needs a lot of nitrogen, especially in the early phase. I used to fertilize with 46-0-0.

Also if you go heavy with nitrogen, make sure yhey get plenty of water or they'll get fert burn.

I first did corn two years ago. I used nothing but compost tea, every 2nd to 3rd watering, and had a good crop.

Nitrogen is key hence the reason most farmers have a winter cover crop like clover to dump tons of nitrogen into the soil.
