In the past, I mainly started under florescent and then moved to a combination of HPS and MH. This year, ran out of space before seedlings were ready to go under the larger lights. So put some trays of freshly planted seeds under the larger lights not thinking about the heat at focus. Things popped very fast. Guess is that the extra heat of the lights warmed the surface of the soil a bit.
