Homemade Fatalii Horseradish

A friend of mine gave me some horseradish root. I planted a piece and decided to grind the rest up with some fataliis.

Ingredients:

3-4 good sized pieces of horseradish root
2-3 Fataliis (or more if you like)
2 Tbs Sea Salt
1-1.5 cups White Vinegar
1 cup Water

I soaked the root in the sink to remove as much dirt, etc, as possible, changing the water a few times. Then I used a paring knife and a potato peeler to clean the skin off. Cut into small chunks, add other ingredients and blend to desired consistency.

I remember peeling and grating 50# sacks of horseradish root. Cleared your sinus's for day's. Great stuff. With the addition of fatalli's and eating that stuff, you'll be in heat so bad that 3 fat ladies and a team of clydesdales won't be able to hold you back!

Nah, its not too bad. I only put three fataliis in there. I needed to make this for the throwdown. Watch for it.

I make a (x,xx,xxx) horseradish, I can't really call it a sauce though, since its mainly grated root ,vinegar, citric acid, etc....the (xxx) has lemon grass puree with aged pickled vinegar out of gallon containers filled with yellow habs...
Sells pretty good at the neighborhood bars around the holidays...

hope you planted the root well away from all your prime growing area. horseradish is the root that keeps on rooting, if not controlled it is an invasive plant.

you don't need good soil for it either, actually the worse the soil the better the plant grows. for the horseradish that i have in my yard, i have it contained in a buried 5 gallon pail but even still it has managed to escape out and grow around the pail. i harvest every 2 years.

next time you try the sauce, take a look at an old salsa ladies' post. i stole from 1 of her recipes and added mayonnaise and like that version better - the end product comes out smoother and lays down nicely on meat. the creamy texture seems to carry the flavour better.

good job.
