Hot sauce lover / also researching an article

Hey

Thought I'd introduce myself and my intentions. I've loved spicy foods for as long as I can remember. I don't necessarily know a *whole* lot but I do know I love the burn.

As part of my article though, I want to include 'hottest hot sauces in the world". I have found multiple Scoville Scale hot sauces lists online and they're not all the same.

I am primarily curious about non-extract hot sauces. Are there any that are verifiably THE hottest hot sauces? If I had to include 3-4 hot sauces which ones would I absolutely have to include?

Thanks and I look forward to spending more time on this forum and learning a lot more!

Welcome to THP from Chicago DA.  :)  You're going to find that a lot of 'world's hottest' stuff is marketing and bamboozle.  If you're really going non extract (and I applaud you for doing so) then I suggest you use the scoville ratings as a guide and have your publisher buy you a selection from many of the vendors listed here.  A simple check of the vendor vault will yield plenty of reseller/contact leads you can use to send the 'what's the hottest you got?' kind of inquiries.

You love the burn, so I'd further suggest you order and taste those sauces, preferably on camera, and document your journey through some of the hottest sauces people have put together to date.  I'd certainly follow/watch such a taste test and I'm sure many others would as well.

Also consulting with a hot sauce shop owner is a good idea. These guys are pretty down to earth, and a member here.

INSANE (flavorful) sauces, extract-like in heat, even surpassing:
  • Cobra Chilli - Fever Chilli Paste (and their Reaper's Harvest Chilli Sauce)
  • Fireland Foods - End of Sanity
  • JungleRain - Apocalypse
  • CapsUp - Scorpions Pur
Oh almost slipped my mind...
  • Texas Creek Products - Pure Evil non-extract liquid, NOT sauce, comes with a dropper. Comparative to an extract.
There you go.
