How far apart to place peppers in the garden

I am putting my peppers in the ground this week. The bed is 8x4. How far apart should the peppers be? It occasionally gets 100+ in the summer so would keeping them close for shade be advised?

1ft x 1ft can be ok, bigger if you want.

What kind of pepper plants? Some get way larger than others.

14" - 18" for your average plant. 24" or more for larger plants.

They could be anything, I ordered them off of amazon. Advertised as Red ghost, yellow ghost, moruga scorpion, red savina, paper lantern, douglah, 7 pot.

The superhots can get huge. 3' would not be too far apart. The red savina and paper lantern, not so much. 2' is fine for them.
