How long can peppers stay on the plant?

How long can i keep"em on the plant after they fully riped?

Is it good or bad to do so?

Not to be a smart &^%, until they rot. I like to pick mine at the peak of ripeness.

All depends on the type, some will dry on the plant, others will mold and rot. There is no exact answer, too many variables.

You can keep them on there as long as you wish. Though they will rot at some point and go mushy. But i like to pick mine just when theres barley any green left and left them sit on a counter for a day or 2 then do to them whatever i need them for. But 3 days will be fine. I think around a week after ripening is when they start to slowly go mushy

I've left them on up to a couple of weeks and they've been fine. But yes, they'll start to rot after that - mama nature's way of releasing seeds.

I had a few purples I left on the plant and they started getting squishy after 2 weeks. Not rotting, but definitely on their way to losing structural integrity.
