How long until medium becomes neutral?

After some research i have found that one to two tblspoon limestone to one gallon peat moss will raise the ph to desirable levels. But it is not clear how long this mix should sit inside my mixing container before it is at a usable ph level. i would like to use at the proper time when the ph is neutral. How long does it take the lime to work with the peatmoss to accomplish this?

Three to nine months depending upon the size of the limestone pieces.

-Chiles actually prefer slightly acidic conditions - helps solubilize trace elements important for plant health so the plant roots can absorb them.
