How tall can hot peppers (or sweet) get?

I am curious how tall or just overall large can well grown, possibly over wintered plants get?
I read 3 feet but i imagine they could get bigger than that if given the right conditions, or is 3 feet about maximum?

My answer would be---- Depends ---------------- If its growing habit is like an ornamental than no...
But one that grows taller would reach 3'

It would depend on how good of a grower you are along with favorable growing conditions. I personally consider 3 ft to be a small pepper plant.

most likely to grow tall, like 7 feet for an Aji Amarillo.
C. rhomboidium can also grow very tall. For most
c. chinense, in a less than perfect climate, 3-5 feet
tall is a pretty common height.
In a tropical or sub tropical climate, many plants
grow to 5-7' or more. See Glen's posts in the Purple

Oh, yeah, and Bishop's Crown is another really
tall variety.

Well, so far my plants in 3-5 gal containers get 30"- 48". This year had to upgrade to 7.5gal containers, seems already they are getting larger than years past.
Below pic is forum member DWB pepper patch from last year. He said 9' tall and still growing for these Carolina Reaper, iirr.... He had a interesting thread on his grow and preparation for it...

of the peppers i`ve grown a Poblano was the tallest at 5 foot.
I agree that it has to do with species first,then ability and climate. I saw a species in Brazil that was 15' tall and I wasn't able to see the actual top of plant due to it growing into the forest canopy.
Pubescens do very well where I live. These are three, four year old Rocotto's.
They were somewhat supported by the steel mesh and the fence behind them and got to just over 2 meters/7 feet in height and still thriving.
