How to dry Cascabel peppers

Has anyone tried drying Cascabel pods? After they are dry, the seeds are supposed to rattle in them hence the Spanish translation meaning "rattle." I'm looking for some tips and tricks for drying these guys.

Here's what they are supposed to look like when dried:

I toss them in my smoker or string them up using a needle and thread and put them in the sun.
They do rattle.
Cascabel and Chile Negro are 2 of my favorite peppers to use as a base for a lot of my powder mixes and rubs.

or you can simply leave them on the plant until they dry...
