If you want to get away with growing peppers in the house, just tell her that it will cut down on the funky smell of the weed, by at least half.  It's an easy sell...

Dang, you made me have a nostalgia moment.  I miss the QFC...  Used to live near the one in Capitol Hill on Broadway, closest to Roy Street Coffee.  I always remember their weird plant offerings.  Pepper bouquets are cool.  At Christmas they always used to have either total Charlie Brown trees, or what looked like just the top of a normal tree.
