Hungarian wax peppers

How big do they normally get? Mine are about 5-7 inches but they are already yellow. They just seem like they should be bigger. It has been a weird growing season for me though!

It looks like they can get "up to" around 8 inches, so yours seem about right. If you want them larger maybe you could feed em a little viagra. :P

Seems like a real nice pepper.

HHW is my favorite pepper - I love the heat and flavor.

I have about six of them growing, more than any pepper except bananas. (7)

You like bananas and wax's, have you tried Cubanelle types. Just be careful with them, "During the 65 day Cubanelle Chiles maturing stage the color changes to an orange-red and the heat rises to an almost inedible intense heat while keeping its sweetness" lol:D

Potawie,

No, in fact I have never heard of the pepper! But I've noticed the HHW can increase in heat - significantly - as they mature. I try to pick them either green or yellow.

They do have more heat as they mature but I find they get a better flavor too. I'm growing some Aconcaguas(Cubanelle type) this year and they are the biggest/heaviest pods I've ever grown. I sure hope they taste good
