seeds Hydrofarm heating mat on germination station

I have a Hydrofarm heating mat on there germination station

I have seen from posts here that the middle is warmer by about 5 degrees, its pushing probably 90 degrees in the center from the temperature that I tested and at least around 85 on the sides.

Should I drop this on to my concrete basement floor to make it get a lower temperature? I don't want to lessen the chance of the seeds
in the middle from growing.

what do you think?

You may be able to find the right temp by placing it on different surfaces but a thermostat (I use a HydroFarm unit) is easy and accurate.

The wholesale temperature of the mat itself is a bit irrelevant. The temperature where the seeds are is what you want to be most concerned about. That's what needs to be monitored.

sorry forgot to say i was testing the soil temp from the soil in different areas on the 72 unit flat.

I have a potting mix in it.

I tested it on the basement floor and soil was barely hitting 80 in the middle area of the soil, and a few degrees below on sides on soil area.

When tested originally the soil was about 90 in the middle...of the tray.

The heating pad that I had was hotter than what most people report there's being.
I had to put a towel between the pad and the seedling trays to get the temperature in the seed zone right.
