I am going to have a few Manzanos. What do I do with them.

It took ~12 months but I have some green pods. I don't have many and I have heard so many good things about them that I am quite excited.
If you have had Manzanos and could only have them prepared one way what would you do?

I will not enjoy them raw.

Thanks

Have you considered stuffing them with cheese and baking them in an oven?

I mostly cut them up and eat them raw with meals.

+2

Of course, I really like them raw. One of my favorite peppers of all time for just crunchin' on.

Stuffing is great.

I'm thinking they might make a good addition to some preserves, jams, jellies, too. Dunno.

I stuck some cooked pork and mozarella in a food processor and threw that in the pepper and threw them in the broiler and had some nice stuffed peppers. I loved them this way.

Thanks?
I am guessing I will have about 6. I will eat one raw with a meal. I will stuff a few with cream cheese, chives, bacon, chedder and rice and bake. If they are mind blowing I will do it again and let my wife have half of one. Otherwise they will go on pizza.

Sound good? Is there better stuffing?

I read stories about one plant producing 100+ pounds of peppers. 6 is kind of close

They are, my friend. They are.

If you let them ripen fully they have a good burn. I use them often for stuffing and powders. They make amazing powder. You have to slice them into thin strips to dry them. Roasted or smoked are amazing to. Smoked and added to mayo...mmmm. If I only had a few I would make a meal of stuffing them.

No matter what you decide to do with them...the will be D-Freakin-Licious!

stc, do you air dry them, or machine/oven? That's interesting. Wouldn't have pegged it as a very driable pepper. Smoked sounds great!

Do they retain their fruity flavor in dried/smoked status?

Their flavor remains in tact regrdless of what you do to them, smoking or roasting just adds some different flavors to the mix. As for drying them, if you don't slice them VERY thin they get chewy kind of like a raisin. I use a dehydrator, and when they're done...I leave them in there an extra 8 hours of so just to be sure.

Thanks, stc! Great to know.
