There are a few varieties of purple bell I think. Yours may be purple beauty?  Anyway, those are the prettiest peppers I think I have ever seen.

I haven't tried one yet. 
 
We bought the seeds under the name 'chilli seeds' which is not very specific and we've got several different varieties now.
