I threw these green supermarket jalapenos in my garden soil since they were a little mushy. They ripened to orange and then bright red.

Never knew! Or if this is an anomaly I will save the seeds.

The yellow looks translucent - is it a lot softer than the  red?

It's like a bright golden color with some orange on the side. The other is vibrant red.

Oh softer? No about the same. They ripened into some wicked colors I almost want to eat them now.
