Is this jalapeno?

A bloke at work gave me these, he said he didn't think they were jalapeno but wasn't sure.
 
They look like jalapeno to me, but being a bit of a noob what would I know.

It definitely looks like it to me, but there are also other anuums with that general shape. I think the purple immature pod may give it away but I've never grown jalapeños. I'm sure more experienced people will chime in.

Easiest way to tell would be to eat a slice. You know what a jalapeño tastes like I’m assuming? They definitely look like they could be jalapeños!

Yes, I did taste one of them first. TBH they were a bit tasteless with mild heat.
I will go with jalapeno though, seems most likely.

I had some jalapenos turn out just like those. IIRC they were from my chichimeca jalapeno. Possibly in the very late season.

A fresno will have thinner walls (so I have read) than a jalapeno. It was on my radar to grow this year, but just missed the cut

I have Fresno pods in the freezer.....they are more pointed like yours vs the rounded ends on jalapeno's

These seem to me to be thick walled, but without one or the other to compare it to I can't tell one way or the other.
 
Does this pic help? Interesting to note that the fatter one seems to have the rounded end rather than tapered.

I think it is a jalapeno. Most Fresno peppers ive seen are less rounded on top. The main difference i get taste wise is the Fresno seems hotter ripe than a jalapeno. The flavor is more "complex" where the jalapeno mainly gets sweeter and less "grassy" when ripe. Love them both.
 
The ones at my local market always look like these and they are always ripe too which is a HUGE plus to me. They cost way more though.

I grew a lot of fresnos last year, I have to agree and say those look very much like a Fresno. Your description is also very much pointing me to the Fresno.
