I started off by just puting some seeds from one of the pods i was going to eat in a container. was not even serious abought growing them figured they would not grow
wattered then every couple of days. them one day i seen green.

after reading the article on the grow tech section about lights and looking around i figured it was time to get some thing a little better then my small starter unit.

so i bought a 400W HID light. way more light then i though it was going to put out. ended up lighting up most of my house not so great at 5am
when my wife is sleeping.

so it was off to home depot to try to fix my problem.

oh and thanks for the the members who warnded me that light was set up a little to close to my light and that they might get burned. raised my light up ashigh as it would go.
temp is running around 80. now the question i have for every one is how many hours should i have light on for. is there such thing as over kill

Looking good my friend! for new seedlings I had my lights on 24/7 for the first week then 18/6 after that! 18/6 looks good for you, for a bit!

Being the fact that you have plants at different growth stages it makes it a little trickier. But ya I'd go for 18/6.

The best thing to do IMO is to seperate the new seedlings from the older bigger ones. I give the real small ones 24/7 light for a week. and with the big ones 18/6. But if you dont want to seperate 18/6 will work well

Off to a great start, Judohero! And you have made the first
of many upgrades to your set up

The seedlings look great - you should have some great transplants there.

ok i am starting to notice some color change in a few of my plants can some one give me some advise is this normal or some thing i should worrie about.

i moved my tray of smaller plants back to the small grow light. they just did not seem to respond as well to the 400w light. i think i will leave them under the other light for a few more weeks. when they get more development i will try them under the big light again. not sure if thats the right move. i guess i am just trying to play it safe. the three bigger plants all have new growth while the smaller ones kinda seemed to stop growing.

New growth is good! Lighting seems to be a tricky aspect of indoor starting.
Have you looked at the color temperature, etc. of your different lighting?

finaly the plants are really starting to show some real growth. does any one know why they seem to hit such a major growth spurt. is it due to the leaves darkening. did not change any thihng same time on the light same watering schedual.
