Jute bags as grow bags?

Has anyone ever grown in Jute bags before?

There are a lot of food grade quality bags at work that had coffee beans in them and I thought they might make good grow bags.
Definitely the right price.....free!

Nice score. From here the fiber seems dense enough and the bags look to be large enough.

If you can breathe through the fabric then it may even root prune like the smart pots.

I wouldn't think twice, i would use them, just make sure the potting soil doesn't dry off too quickly in them. Then at the end of the season you can check out the roots to see how they ended up (all spiraled or like an upside down christmas tree)

You can also make a sweet ghillie suite out of them if you got the time.

Love the bags! I get far better results using bags/tubes that are very porous rather than solid pots.
