seeds Keeping seeds vialble

I have a few varieties of seeds on the way and I am hoping to keep them viable until I move into my new place and can start them indoors. It is going to be until January or Feburary. Some may even have to wait until spring. What, if anything, can I do to help keep my seeds viable?

Personally. I had some in an open ziplock rapped in foil. Sitting on a windowsill. Not in direct sunlight though.sat like that for at least a year. All seeds from that group germinated. Next year will try more from the same package.

I've found forgotten zip bag with few Jolokia seed that were 4 years on balcony, exposed to temperatures from -20C to +40C - germination rate was surprisingly good.
