Leaf patches

A few months ago, a 7 pod barrackpore started getting rusty spots on the leaves, which soon started falling off. I moved the plant away from the lights, but the problem continued. The plant is still sick, and has very few good leaves, but in the last week or so it has shown signs of getting somewhat better. In the last week or so, a roatan habanero started getting simmilar patches. I'm slightly worried that whatever it is is contagious, though in the habanero's case it might just be that i messed up on the fertilizer(twice as high a dose as normal). Just wondering if any of you have had something similar, because the barrackpore is still 8 inches in height from may, whereas the habanero(and various scorpions) are 5-6 feet in height. not worried about survival, as much as getting fruit before january. Have to go, pics when i get back (9-10 hours.

The dark patches on the plant feel slightly crusted, not sure if that helps.
I think I had a normal habanero seedling last year with this problem, and it got better reasonably quickly. Also, I did fertilize the habanero with a bit much recently, but it doesn't look like fert burn, and I also gave it calcium and magnesium supplements, so it is not likely missing those
Edit: put the pictures in a link, they were too small to see if I posted them here.
Also, this looks like it might be mites, in which case it will be much easier to deal with.
