Leaves are falling down

Hello!

I am overwintering a red habanero plant. It was all alright until more and more leaves started falling down. I thought it might be because of lack of sun, overwatering but this is not the case. Now, they don't only fall down but look like this:



What is it? What should I do? The plan looks half-bald now :(
 
The plant was brought to home before the winter. Now, it stays in the kitchen for ~5 months, under natural sun light. At first, they did fine, even had some fruits (I had sown them very late) but since a month or so they do worse and worse, even if the weather outside is better. I haven't cut it.
