Lexa Rae's Grow Log

So this year I am growing White Habanero, Black Jalapeño, Sweet Crimson, Cayenne, Cayenne Blend, Green Bell Pepper, Chocolate Bell Pepper, Serrano, and Santa Fe Grande's. I have lived in Louisiana for about a year (for the Army) and because of the hot and humid climate I decided it would be a good time to start a garden (there is not much to do in our area). Naturally because of the ridiculous hot temp here, my peppers have done better than anything else. That was the beginning of my pepper plant obsession haha...

So anyway not to long ago I purchased some seeds to add to my variety of peppers and decided to go ahead and germinate a few from each pack since the first frost where I live usually on average is Nov. 26, I'm hoping most of my plants will mature by then, and I can over-winter them :)

So here we are today....

I planted these peppers 8/11/2012

So far the black jalapeno, white hab, and serrano have all show signs of growth :)

My bell peppers :)

Each bell pepper plant has around 12-14 flowers coming in :) My cayenne plant has 5 showing, and they are pretty big, but they havent turned red....

Those cayenne are huge How do you use them??

Cayennes are my favorite pepper because I use them in a lot of my cooking! I love cutting up 1-1 1/2 full ripe (red) pepper in a pot of chili giving in a bit of a kick. And I usually cut up 1 full ripe pepper for my spaghetti sauce. It taste delicious! Also I string them to air dry to make my own fresh cayenne pepper, or freeze them whole because peppers freeze VERY well. Then I can have them all winter to cook with :)

Ok here is another update on the progress of my peppers :) Everything is still going good so far!

Nice little grow. and I agree with P-son, I wish my handwriting didn't look like someone was stabbing me in the wrist as I wrote. Good luck!

Hey, Lexa! Your plants look great - making good progress. The
upside down planters are interesting. Have you used those before?

Have a great weekend!
