Light Cycle For Peppers?

I suggest going with the originals. You can even match the most common pepper colors if you'd like!

Yeah, there are mixed messages out there. Trent mentioned he ran them like that briefly but stopped for a few reasons; from what he said, I don't think there was any problem with the plants going without darkness, just a matter of it causing other issues.

I get the impression it's a combination of cost and diminishing returns. 16-18 hours on seems to be a common compromise between 100% growing time and the expense of 24/7 lighting. I think I'm running 18/6.

16/8 here, too. The manufacturer of my LED light cautions against running the light longer than that at a stretch.

Peppers don't need a dark cycle, but they don't *seem to* get any measurable benefit from 24/7, either.  At least not if everything else is running optimally.

It's kinda ridiculous to run lights all day, from the perspective of electricity consumption, and even more importantly - algae management.  You can *easily* grow peppers on as little as 6 hours.  When you are down to playing with light times, you're scraping the barrel for the smallest of gains.  I used to just turn my lights on when I went to work, and timed them off when I got back.

I run 16/8

But if you're looking to conserve power look into the gas lantern method.

It varies light and dark at mixed intervals. I did it one season with good results but found it didn't fit into my daily life and work schedule.

How long have you been doing this for karoo?

I have grown peppers for 6 years and have been starting peppers inside for the last 4 years.
I usually start them inside sometime in July , and they go outside at the end of August .
2018 I started a bit earlier , end June, and had no problems. I even had pods from my Annuums under lights , check my glog.

Cheers, I just wanted a bit of context
