Lucked out

Went to tear down a boat cover/ shed for a lady this morn, and scored enough 4x4's to make another decent sized raised bed. i sure know i need the room with all the different types of peppers i have growing now...

The big box stores sell landscape timbers for about $2 a piece I believe. They are treated and new. I would just go with them. They are flat on two sides and stack nicely. If you cut a piece of rebar into 2 foot sections and drill holes through the timbers, you can anchor them nicely. A bed with three stacked high would probably cost about $20-$25 for new treated lumber.

Well these were free, and i made money on the job, so win win... I do have a couple of the timbers, 2 high... but they aren't treated as much as the 4x4's and after 3 years, the bottom ones are rotting out. I am building more outta the timbers, cuz they are cheap.
