glog Mack's Peppers Grow log 2025

Welcome to my Grow log. Going to start it late as I just joined here recently.

Just finished planting all my plants out into their final places last week.

186 Plants total (183 in the 5 gallons 3 in other pots), 90+ varieties

These are the plants that were growing best and true to type. I ended up culling roughly 150 plants over the start of the season.

I plan to Isolate individual flowers for my own stock for next years seeds. I usually sell open pollinated and grow them out sometimes for those accidental crosses (sometimes you get an amazing cross)

Hope to share more over the season for you all

Culling of 150 plants! Is there only one plant of each variety growing in your garden? I sort of like the idea of having only individuals, but surely a back-up or two?

Usually 3. But 2 minimum for me. Mostly for genetic diversity purposes. Sometimes I only end up with one if all the others don't meet phenotype standards etc.

Ghost Dropping from BausGrows

It's Aji Limon (Baccatum) x Ghost (Chinense) and has virtually no heat

Midwest Midnight that isnt the intended peach. Likely either a natural variant/ accidental cross.

It retains the upright pods, and dark foliage unlike other orange variants I've found online. The pods also retain purple hues when ripe.

And finally our most asked about and requested pepper.
Black BBG Armageddon.

Pods start a dark black/purple color and ripen to red while retaining some black making the pods look almost roasted.

The calyx also bleeds a mix of black and red owing to its BBG parentage.

Unfortunately due to the postal strike, I wont be releasing my seeds until its resolved.
