Madame Jeanette crosses, and other bits

Hi All,

A bit late to the party, but here's what I'm up to in Kent, UK. Had a hot dry summer so far. After a few years trying to grow *everything* with not much space, less is more this year – just 16 plants on this grow. A couple of years ago we built a ghetto poly tunnel and installed autopots for 8 plants.

I'm doing a roll-the-dice grow out of Aji Umba X Purple Jalapeno F2 - three plants:

And last year I crossed the F1 with Madame Jeanette, and getting some interesting stuff, a couple of plants:

And the rest are:

Birds Eye long from the CP collection at Puckerbutt

Targu Mures, a Romanian Paprika type, I'm told

Cumari Alongado

A 3 year old 'Chris Fat Red' bonchi

Numex Suave Orange

Good work Marty, and welcome to THP from a grower in South Carolina. However, I grew up in Maidstone. Where are you?

Cheers Kentishman – I'm on the Isle of Sheppey (for my sins!).

South Carolina must be better than Kent for pepper growing?

Really nice setup and some amazing looking chilis! :)
What medium are you using in those autopots? Are you finding they water the plants at the right level for pepper plants?

Cheers, I'm using potting compost with 30% perlite, and about an inch depth of hydroton in the bottom. I'm undecided tbh, they feel a bit dry this year but the plants aren't actually looking thirsty, they seem to be growing slowly and maybe less prolifically, in comparison to last year. It could just be the varieties I have though, and plenty of pods coming so no worries really :)
