food Make your best taco.

Much obliged RG.

Pics are better from my iPad too.

Back in DFW I wasn't close to any HEB store.

Only stinkin' Kroger.

HEB is a Texas institution and kills Kroger.

Case in point is the awesome bag of fine crumbled cotija cheese I got today.

Won't find that at your local Try-N-Save.

HEB is the Texas staple, I wish we had one here. I see brisket prices as low as 1.99 a lb on some BBQ groups, you can beat that. We have Superone foods here which is owned by Brookshires from TX, the have the most rubs.Mexican spices of any store here. Prices aren't bad either, 2.99lb brisket.

HEB.

Butt rocketing since 1905.
HEB is the bomb grocery stuff store.  We travel from KC to New Braunfels at least once a year and stock up on stuff from the HEB while we're there.  I bought a drum chile roaster from the HEB+.  Kick-ass.

carnitas.  pickled onion & jalas, salsa fresca. quesadilla because chihuahua cheese.

Bean tacos.

I grew up on bean, jalapeno and cheese tacos.

The xalapas from our field.

A young boy standing alone.

Texas Rio Grand Valley.

in a 15 acre field of jalapenos.

Reach down.

Pull one off the vine.

Its half green and red and glistens with dew as the sun rises.

You eat it.

Now you're ready.

To go chase down the bull and cows that broke down the barb wire fence and got out.

Then you find the 2,500 pound bull with his cows.

And lead him back to the pasture with a bucket of grain.

Then you get a come a long and fix the posts and string the fence.

And then its time to catch the bus to school.

Because you're 13 years old.

And tacos are for lunch.
