Very interesting plant... Weird how it starts out what appears to be black or dark purple then lightens up to green...

Mine look almost the same except my leaves are really purpley. beautiful and extremely productive plant. I must pick a dozen every day.

Mine is similar but growing awfully slow, it's a late producer for you too Pson?

I was surprised that it took as long as it did. Seed was sowed March 1 I think. I really haven't given it a bunch of attention or fed it properly, you can get the general look from the pics atleast. Fed properly in full sun,it will have more purple to it.

I assume this is a C.annuum, not frutescens. It that true?
I have a "Black Pearl" that looks very similar, other than the pods being round.

There is some debate on it being either an annuum or chinense.
Maybe a cross because is kinda late bloomer as stated, very hot and tastes way better than most 'ornamentals'.

Hmmm. Chinense? I`d find that hard to believe, but as you say, it may be an inter-species cross. My Black Pearl plants have also been slow and late-bloomers, just like these are.
